We’re excited to have Delena from It’s On My To Do List as our very first Catholic Mothers Online Featured Mom.
We’d love to learn more about you. Please share some information about yourself and your family.
I am a stay-at-home mom to four children, ages five and under. In my “free time” (pause here for laughter), I enjoy operating a photography business part-time. My husband is the most intelligent person I know, and he makes me laugh every day. Our family attends the Traditional Latin Mass in Kansas City, and we work every day at building a Catholic culture within our home.
And what about your blog?
I started my blog as a way to write down stories and conversations with kids, but it’s really turned into a way of releasing my joys and anxieties as a mom.
What is your confirmation name?
Augustine
If you could have anything for dessert tonight, what would it be?
Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.
What are some of your favorite things about being Catholic?
Having converted to the Catholic faith from being Protestant, my favorite thing about the Catholic faith is that it actually makes sense. Faith and reason, my friends!
I love the history of the Church. Being Protestant meant that Jesus was here, he died, and then the Baptists took over. I also love the intercession of saints–how lucky are we, as Catholics, to have friends up in Heaven who help us out?!
If you suddenly had $100 that you had to spend on yourself (not give away or spend on your family), what would you buy (could be more than one thing)?
I would put it toward buying a Blendtec. I’m slightly obsessed with buying one, and my husband is probably tired of hearing about it. Seriously–it blends ANYTHING! How could you NOT want that?
If you have an iPod or MP3 player, go put it on shuffle. What are the first five songs that come up?
- “Someone I used to know” by Gotye.
- “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.
- “Are You Lonesome Tonight” by Elvis Presley.
- “A Change is Gonna Come” by Sam Cooke.
- “Set Fire to the Rain” by Adele.
Share a tip with our readers that makes your life easier.
On Saturday night, I lay out everyone’s clothes in the living room that they will be wearing to Mass, and I write out the check for the collection so we’re not rushing around the next morning.

Pinterest–wait, Pinterest isn’t a blog, is it?
What are some of your favorite activities to do with your family?
We LOVE board games in this house. “Settlers of Cataan,” “Memoir ’44,” “Ticket to Ride,”–we have board game nights a LOT around here. We also really enjoy inviting our priests over for dinner. The kids love getting to ask them questions, we love the conversation, and I enjoy entertaining.
Sleep–oh, wait! (Maniacal laughter ensues.)
I would say “vacation,” but we don’t get one too often, and just the thought of six people sharing a hotel room (especially two of those kids being under two years of age) makes my blood pressure rise.

Faith and reason, amen to that. I come from a Protestant background myself and I find more and more to love about the Catholic Church as time goes on and I continue to learn about my faith.
Buy a Blendtec! They are awesome. I am “borrowing” my parents (indefinitely) but should they ever want it back I would not hesitate to spend the money on another.
Nice to meet you, Delena!
Hi, Nicole!
I got it! The Blendtec is offically mine! Muah-ha-ha-ha!
So far, it’s working out great. How awesome is it that you can make SOUP in that thing?!

Blendtec. I refuse to even look it up, because then I will “need” one. So far this year my eternally patient husband has saved and purchased me a Dyson vacuum and a Shark steam mop. Nope, I ain’t lookin’.
Bohemian Rhapsody!! It’s like our family theme song! Just sing “Mama!” and my 2 year old granddaughter replies with, “Oooo!” Great song.
Haha! Yes–don’t look! You’ll REALLY want one! The husband finally let me get one, and I LOVE IT!!!!
Bohemian Rhapsody–LOVE IT! Especially the fast part where my husband just shakes his head at the lyrics that I think are the right ones!
